Help! I'm seeing errors during updates! (v3.5.0)
If you're running an older version of the Subathon Tool, you might face issues when updating your app. We noticed a bug with v3.5.0, which would cause updates to fail. The issue was caused by the Subathon Tool refusing to close when prompted to via the close button.
This was fixed in v3.5.5, but you'll need to face this bug in order to overcome it. If you do see error popups, this will usually mean that the Subathon Tool itself did not close before the updater started, meaning the updater could not overwrite the Subathon Tool.
- To fix this, you first need to run the Subathon Tool again. Unfortunately, it's possible that some of the required files for the Subathon Tool were corrupted when it forcefully closed due to an error. If the Subathon Tool refuses to open after an error, you'll need to uninstall the tool, and reinstall it. Don't worry, your settings and activation status won't be reset, so it's just a case of installing the Tool.
- Once the Tool is open, you'll see a message box informing you that the current version is outdated. Click "Ok", and you should see the Updater component open - don't click Begin yet.
- Either right click the taskbar icon for the Subathon Tool and click Close window (don't click the Close button in the app itself, this is the cause of the issue), or open Task Manager and kill the Subathon Tool (subathontool.exe) process.
- OR
- Once you're sure it has exited fully, you can now click the "Begin" button on the updater.
- Once the update is complete, it should automatically close and launch the main Subathon Tool window, now running 3.5.5.
