How To Connect Streamlabs

How To Connect Streamlabs

Connecting your Streamlabs account to Mike's Subathon Tool is quite simple. Firstly, boot up the Subathon Tool.

Once it has loaded, head to your Settings tab, and you'll see a brand new tab called "Accounts". Click on that to see all of the services that you can currently connect.

Here, you'll see Streamlabs. If you've not synced it yet (which we're assuming is the case if you're here), you'll see a Sync Now button. Otherwise, it'll say "Currently synced".

Currently, you can't un-sync the account within the Subathon Tool. If you wish to remove your Streamlabs account for whatever reason, this is done within your Streamlabs account settings, under the API Settings section. You can also click here to view and remove currently connected apps. Once you revoke the Subathon Tool's access, you may need to restart the Subathon Tool for it to see this. Once restarted, the Sync Now button will once again be visible. This could be useful for fixing any issues that you may face with the Streamlabs connection.

To connect your account, just click on the Sync Now button. You'll see a "Streamlabs Authorisation" window open. The Sync Now button will now be greyed out, to prevent multiple dialog windows from being opened.

Click on "Login with Twitch" to proceed to the Twitch website, where you'll be asked to enter your Twitch username and password, and if enabled, multi-factor authentication code. None of these details are shared with the Subathon Tool; they are only used by Streamlabs to verify you.

Once Twitch has successfully authenticated your account, you'll be taken back to Streamlabs, where you'll then need to confirm that you'd like the Subathon Tool to gain access to the details listed. The following things are given to the Subathon Tool:

  • Donations in your account - This will give the Subathon Tool access to the donations that are currently in your account, which is used to add time for them.
  • Access Socket Connection - This will give the Subathon Tool permission to open a new socket event. Socket events are required for the Subathon Tool to receive a notification whenever a user donates. We only store the tokens necessary for these connections.

Click on Approve to proceed. Once you have pressed this, the Authorisation window should now close, and the Subathon Tool will now say "Currently Synced".

That's it! Your Streamlabs account has now been connected with the Subathon Tool. Make sure you've specified a donation amount in the Settings > Countdown Settings, and clicked the green tick to save these changes. Now all you need to do is go to your Countdown tab, and click Start Countdown! There's also a Streamlabs tab, just after the Countdown tab. Under this tab, you'll see a list box, which populates itself with all of the donations that you receive through Streamlabs. You can also test this out using the Test Donation button under your Streamlabs alert box. When you send these tests, it does not add any time onto your Subathon timer, but you'll see a message such as "John donated 37GBP; this was a test, no time was added " in the list box under the Streamlabs tab. This way, you know for sure that the socket connection is open and receiving notifications of donations.
